The House of Dust Edition, 1967 by Alison Knowles
The tech being used is a fax machine. The materials within the pieces is the machine, paper, ink and letters. The paper is going throught the machine and as the paper moves the letters needed are covered in ink and then placed on the paper. I think it is weird to view a piece like this as art becasue the artist didn’t necessarily create the piece. But the artist had to chose what words were going to be printed and why and how much time in between each print. (3 minutes)
Lettres de ma Mere main et Machine by Vera Molnar
Letters from my mothers hand and machine is a piece that consists of CDs, gears, an engine, and lED lights. These pieces of tech are used in particular ways. The CDs is used for aesthetic purposes, the gears and engine makes the metal poles move and the leds light the piece its self. Including the tech the artist uses plastic, metal, lights strips and a type of reflective paper or plastic. The top and bottom of the work hold the technology of the piece. I’m not sure how the tech fit within the piece though. I chose this piece becasue of how intresting the use of the random object a CDs, changes the way I see CDs and the piece as a whole.
